David W. Leebron is an American academic and lawyer who currently serves as the president of Rice University in Houston, Texas. He has been in this position since 2004.
Prior to becoming president of Rice University, Leebron was Dean of Columbia Law School and a professor of law at New York University School of Law. He also served as the Director of Policy Planning at the United States Department of State and as a law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Under Leebron's leadership, Rice University has experienced significant growth and development. He has focused on expanding the university's research capabilities, increasing the diversity of the student body, and strengthening relationships with the Houston community.
Leebron holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Harvard College. He has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to higher education and public service.
